The what, why's and who's of The Renegades Foundation.
The Renegades Foundation is new. It's fresh and it's at the foreground of breaking down stereotypes. It has a simple aim : to share stories of people who have overcome struggles. Bringing you stories of how people have overcome some of the most pressing issues, and therefore inspiring others to realise their own resilience.
I am a storyteller and triumphing over troubles makes for the perfect tale. Collecting stories of all our unsung heroes.
The name ? A renegade is someone who rejects a set of principles, and we are rejected them all. We're rejecting statistics that say we're going to fail, barriers put up by financial situations and anything that tries to hold us back.
This site will also share relevant news articles relating to focus issues as well as posts about how to learn to love yourself, take care of physical and mental health and ways to make the most of a situation.
The campaign.
“I am not defined” is the founding campaign. It encourages you to speak out about adversity, illness and any other struggle faced and show they can all be overcome one way or another. There will be a story every month of an individual who has an inspirational story despite there being a time where they thought the future wouldn't be possible. It may be simple, but if one person feels motivated, encouraged or less alone, it's worth it.
Finch's Fund.
This is the fundraising part. Focusing on one charity each term, there will be opportunities to get involved with some local charities that are often overlooked as well as more prominent causes.
Finch's Fund is inspired by the book “All the bright places” by Jennifer Niven, a story of love and loss. There is a concept of a “a bright place”, a place of solitude and rest an individual can take shelter in. Be it a friend, a dance class or a school - Finch's Fund is on a mission support all these bright places.
Finally, about the founder.
My name is Lucy and at the time of launching The Renegades Foundation I am 19 Years old. Currently studying for my second years at Cardiff University, my time is divided between reading and raising awareness. Through completing my gold Duke of Edinburgh award I have become a regional youth ambassadors for the award, later being made and I Will ambassador for youth social action.
The opportunities have been endless and invaluable, and it's time I do the same for others.
I hope you find this mission worthwhile and something worth checking back on, it would mean the world and more.
After all, what's not to love about helping people get what they deserve.
Get involved by sharing a message of defiance, encourage each other and embrace individuality.
Our first renegade is coming shortly, and she is brilliant!
Here we go
-Lucy
